Hello - Is It Me You're Looking For?

It's about 2 in the morning.  And I feel like a cross between an 80 year old woman and a 21 year old.  Why?    Well I am up at 2 (the 21 year old part) but, I'm watching the Game Show Network....bring on the Family Feud!  I could watch it all day (the 80 year old part).   Who am I really?!

As you can tell, I have been taking a break.   Last week, I was a cleaning machine.  This week?  I'm off to see Fun.  in concert, with my favorite cousins Katie & Haylee.

While I have taken this break, I got to 200 followers.  Within a day, I was at 199.  But yesterday?  201.  My latest follower?  Cute big butt teen photos.  No lie.   Hi CBBTP!   Welcome! :)

I will be back full force soon.  I have more than 30 drafts in my folder.  I'm ready to break them lose and show you (2 months later) the 2nd part of my birth story.  If you don't believe me...that's ok.  I don't believe myself either.  *yay procrastination!!!*

Also...I have been a reading machine.  If you follow me on Good reads, you would notice.   Have you read "Beautiful Disaster"?   No?  DO IT!!!  If you like tormented love...you will like this.  I read this book (and it's sequel "Walking Disaster")  in 2 days.   Over 800 pages.  Yes I am tired, and no...my son will not bargain with me when I tell him I was up at 3am reading.   You would really think a 3 year old would get the concept of bargaining by now...especially with me as a mom.  Jeesh.  (Follow me here.)

Today (later) tonight starts Catfish.  Tune into MTV and have your mind blown by the crazies.  (This is not towards all the people who find love online).   Just the crazies.

And finally.  Pen Pals.  I miss mail that arrives in my mailbox.  Awhile ago I participated in a Pen Pal Swap thingy but it never went through.  

I got one letter from my Pen Pal and it stopped.  

Well I want to make this happen.

Where I Share Some Obscure Songs That Bring Back Memories

Hello ya'll.   Today is a subject I love...music.   I'm not a singer (except for those 5 years in choir) and I don't play any instruments but music is still important to me.  

So, 5 songs that speak to you or bring back memories.  I of course just didn't choose 5 and I have some obscure songs for you to enjoy :)

This song reminds me of my childhood.   My parents had what we call now "oldies" cassette tapes and whenever I heard this song I would run and hide because I was embarrassed.   Mostly because the lyrics go "Come on down Miranda...".  and in my weird child brain this embarrassed me.  Now I love it because their aren't many songs with my name in it.

 

Around the time I was 13 and 14 I was friends with a girl who my parents didn't really think was a good influence.  She moved back to her hometown and I would visit her...however this town, kind of dangerous.  That was the first time I drank alcohol (shhh don't tell my parents) and I was subjected to a lot of things a girl my age should never have to.  However I do have good memories and my friend and I would dance around the living room singing this "new" song. 

Ok this literally came out around the time I was graduating.   And it was a big hit...and even though it is super cheesy it does make a little sad.

 

So over the years Guss & I had some "us" songs.   Some embarrassing ones (cough - Mandy Moore I wanna be with you - cough)   But this was our wedding song.   Kind of a weird song for your first dance but I have always loved it and spoke to me.

 

Another random song...if you listen to techno then you might have heard of this song.   When I studied abroad in Germany, in the clubs they would play American music and then a ton of techno.   This one became big in our small group of students and we would "Put our hands up"  all over Europe...below is us in Prague. (surprisingly none of us are from Detroit)

I've shared this song a bunch but when I think about having a son, this definitely speaks to me.

   

And finally this is a general song for "carrying on".   I love Fun. and their lyrics and I am super excited to see them in concert in June!!!

Music Obsession

So lately I have had a few songs playing repeat on my ipod.  I'm sure some of these you have heard of and others maybe not.  But I do encourage you to check them all out!  (The Lonely Island one I think is just freaken hilarious, however very graphic language!)

Grammys - A Bit Late

The Grammys this year I think turned out pretty good.  (Except that hideous Chris Brown performance - which caused this disgusting thing on twitter)

However the Grammys were especially awesome for people who live in a medium-sized (it's medium for WI) town in Wisconsin.  Because the indie-rock band Bon Iver won two Grammys!  One for Best New Artist where Justin Vernon (the lead singer) made an awkward speech.  But it was still awesome.  Because then halfway through he thanked the town I live in!  (We also graduated from the same University)  Anyways...I know a lot of people haven't heard of them and it was somewhat of an upset but I like it!  Below, if you are interested, is the speech. 

Bon Iver Wins Best New Artist

Ok a quick run down of some performance:

Beach Boys/Maroon 5/Foster the People:  I actually loved this but that's because I grew up watching Full House and Uncle Jesse played with the Beach Boys...plus I love oldies.

Taylor Swift:  Her performance made my husband say these exact words "Dammit Taylor, you're making me think you're hot"...he's a weirdo, I know.

Bruno Mars:  I thought it was a good performance...And his hairstyle always cracks me up.

Adele:  I of course loved it and was happy it wasn't horrible after her throat surgery but did anyone else think she sang in a lower key or just lower overall?  It just seemed different.  

Jennifer Hudson:  While she did an awesome job of covering Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You", I believe no one will ever sing it better than Whitney herself.

...And one more thing about the lady of the night - Adele.  I think she totally deserved all her Grammys.  Her album and voice are amazing.  The thing is I really liked other people who were nominated.  And I couldn't help but think when they found out they were nominated against Adele, they were like "shit".  Because they knew they were going to lose.  And sure enough they did.  

Worst Dressed

Robyn:  I can't stand those shoes...

Nicki Minaj:  i feel like she was trying to hard to be weird

Fergie:  To tell you the truth, if it wouldn't have been see through and just had an orange lining it might have been really cool.  But ew.

Best

Adele:  Maybe just because I have a major girl crush on her but I think this a beautiful simple dress.  I agree with some people who say she could dress younger, but this dress isn't bad at all.

Katy Perry:  I actually love this dress.  It is definitely a dress I think only Katy Perry could pull off though.  And I might not be in the majority here, but I actually like the blue hair.  She can pull it off.  (However I wasn't a fan of the crimped/frizzy style from her performance)

So there you have it.  Do you agree with my dress choices?  But the biggest question I really want to know from you...have you ever heard of Bon Iver?  Do you think they deserved Best New Artist?
