The Great Wings Adventure

So lately I have been on a weird adventure...quest if you will.

Wings.

I want to find the best chicken wings ever.  I'm talking spicy (but not horribly so) buffalo wings.  I would love to try to make my own but I need a great recipe!

Listed are the ones I have tried.  Some were good, some sucked, but I still haven't found the one.  And I won't give up.

But you can help.

* Warning - pictures of the food are not professional *
Hooters.  I love going to Hooters. (especially when I know I have a bigger rack than most those ladies) They have great wings.  But not the best.

Oko's  Warrens, WI
My brother-in-law swore these wings were awesome.  Um nope.  Gross.

Chickadee's (Locally owned restaurant)
These were okay.  But the shape kind of freaks me out!

Famous Dave's
Okay, these were the weirdest tasting buffalo wings I have ever tried.  Ew.

Not pictured:
- Pizza Hut:  These are hit or miss.
- Buffalo Wild Wings:  I prefer their wraps.  The wings don't have enough meat.  But they will do if I need to get my fix.

So let me have it.  Your recipes! Your suggestions!  Of course if it locally owned I can't run right there (unless we share a town) but ya never know when I will come your way!

Ain't nothing but a chicken wing baby.

Late to the party (as usual)...

So I know I am super late.  But since I took a mini break I will pretend pictures from Mother's Day weekend is still relevant.  Because really?  Isn't everyday Mother's Day? *sarcasm*
*that's not to say it shouldn't be, just to say it never is!*

Here's the rub rundown.  Friday Guss & I stayed in a hotel so we didn't have to get up super super early to get to Milwaukee.  We were going to a Brewers vs Cubs game with my BCF & her husband to celebrate her upcoming Birthday.  (Brewers won!!!  Even saw a Grand Slam!)  Going to baseball games are so much fun, but if they win it makes it so much better!

Picture overload a comin'.

Man alive, I LOVE this place.  The closest one I live near is an hour and a half away.  So when I'm close, I jump on that thing!

Miller Park!!!  Four Packer players actually threw out the first pitch!  Happy Surprise! :)
I somehow couldn't capture them in the act (and I doubt you would wanna see anyways) but this couple were packing on the PDA and making me wanna throw up in my mouth. (or on them)
Then this little drunken gem came around.  Here she is leaning on her friend.  They actually were in the wrong seats and wrong section.
I'm surprised she didn't eat it walking those stairs.
Downtown Milwaukee
We went to a bar right next to our hotel.  It was dead but really cool.  And the bartender was really nice to us.  My favorite part is this "phone booth"  where it has chargers for all types of phones.  How cool is that?
We had quite a few of these magical shots.  RumChata.  Tastes like cinnamon toast crunch...which could be dangerous.  But we ended up getting 4 free drinks because we had our tickets to the game!  Score!

Well I actually am going to make this into 2 posts...because it is getting loooong.  So check back later for my actual mother's day!  Don't miss it.  There will be donuts.  Unfortunately they are now gone, but still...I talk about them.

Guess Who's (Kinda) Back?

Hi. So today, I think ya'll need to head on over to Kyna's blog.  She is one of the sweetest bloggers around, and I'm not just saying that. She is super nice and has an adorable daughter.  Plus, I'm over there sharing a recipe!  It's really good and easy...promise!

Broom * Warm * Food

Weird title right?   I couldn't come up with anything more clever.

Anyways....there was this thing all around facebook about Brooms standing straight up because of some Solar Storm.  At first it didn't work, bu then it did...and it really freaked the husband out.  I thought it was pretty cool.

Like I mentioned before, we have had some nice weather.  Mason has loved playing outside with sticks and a basketball and soccer ball.

He looks like an evil stick hoarder...I promise he isn't :)

Ahhh, fresh air.
And these past few weeks I tried some new recipes.  Here are two of them.

Recipe found here.
My Notes:  I have a weird aversion to bread crumbs so i didn't use them...and I didn't have Parmesan so I only used cheddar cheese.
Click picture for recipe.
My Notes:  I only used a teaspoon crushed red pepper and it was still too hot for my husband.  If you like spicy, then I would go with that...if you don't...I wouldn't even try it.
And finally, I don't think everyone will agree but  I am loving Jessica Simpson being pregnant.  I felt gigantic while pregnant, and it seems like all celebs are super cute and tiny while with child.  They were not gigantic (except Kate Hudson the first time around and Jennifer Garner).  But that is what I love.  That they looked just like me when I was pregnant.  Large and in charge. :)  I just hate all the criticism J. Simpson is getting.

Your body changes when you are pregnant...you  have no control...  Anways...I'm done.  Have a great Tueday!  Catch you on the flip side!

* Monday, Monday *

Have you heard this song before?  I love listening to it every Monday.  It is an oldie (but that is what my parents had me listen too).  But I think it's pretty great.

Alrighty, just a few things on this hopefully lovely Monday.

OK...I'm going to try this "ask me anything" again.  Just because I'm curious what you want to know.  I tried this before and got maybe 1 question but I won't give up.  :)  so...ask away!

------------------------------------------

Also, as I have mentioned before I was given 'The Cute Blog Award' seen here. Well there are a few things that come along with getting this award.  I need to answer the questions.

What is your go to makeup brand?
I mostly use CoverGirl or Clinque.

What was your favorite fashion trend of 2011?
Yeah...I'm really bad at fashion.  But I love wearing my boots with my new (can't-belive-i-own-them skinny jeans)

What is your favorite dessert?
I'm not a big dessert person.  (I love my carbs)  but I will almost never turn down a brownie.

What is your favorite color?
Yellow, brown, gray.  My all time fave colors.

What is your middle name?
Lynn.  My dad's middle name is Lynn as well.  I know some people think that is weird but I like it.

The last song you listened too?
Not too sure.  My huband had on the 90's Pandora channel. But now I am watching the Oscars so whatever song is playing in the background.

Dogs or Cats?
Dogs. For sure.  I've got my doggies (and Mason's best friends)  Bailey & Ally.

Something you haven't told anyone (on your blog) yet?
Hmmm...there is quite a bit...but that is for some other posts.

------------------------------------------------

Also I want to apologize that I made my giveaway a little weird by asking for 2 blog comments.  Sorry about that...I am a giveaway newbie.

And finally. I saw this on another blog recently and thought, this can't be true!  But while grocery shopping this past weekend, I found them.  The birthday cake oreos.  They smell delicious, and the only person in my house who has had them so far is Mason and he devoured them.  Today, I will be eating them... hopefully I will only eat 2, but we all know that won't happen.

Pumpkin Love

This post is allllll about pumpkins.

First off is my pumpkin carving adventure.  I haven't done a pumpkin carving in maybe 5 or 7 years so I went traditional.  I did it all myself and I am proud.  :)

This project I got the idea from Julie at Smitten Mintons.  All it took was a $1.00 pumpkin from the patch and gold spray paint.  Total?  Less than $5.00.  My husband (who I like to call the Grouch of Halloween) even said it looked awesome!
This is all you need.
Mid-Project outside (man that stuff stinks!)
Look how pretty & shiny :)
Finally, Pumpkin Seeds.  I was sooooo looking forward to doing this.  I got the recipe here.  However I baked mine for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

These actually started out as a disaster.  The seeds are supposed to dry overnight but whatever I did they wouldn't dry.  I thought placing napkins on them would help soak up the water.  Well instead I got seeds stuck to the napkins.  I was ready to give up but I wanted these so bad!  The solution?  Put the napkin/seed mixture into to warm water to mostly separate them, then take EVERY seed and pull off the napkin remnants left behind.  Man, was that a pain.  But to tell you the truth...they are so delicious they are worth it!

Kale Chips for MMM

Linking up today with Ashley, Amanda, and Whitney for 'Motive Me Monday'.  Today we are sharing recipes!  I went with more of a snack than a meal.  I went with Kale Chips.  Now if you have never heard of these, you are not alone.  I heard about them on 'The Ellen Degeneres Show' who had on Gwyneth Paltrow and she said she made this for her kids.  I looked up the recipe and every ones was a little different.  So I tried a few times and this time I think I got it right.  Just you know, these taste like potato chips.  I don't know how it is possible, I really don't...but they are good.  My husband may call it hippie food but he loves it. (you know how much trouble I would be in if he knew I told you!)

What To Do
- Wash & Dry Kale
- Rip the Kale apart into smaller/chip pieces
- Add enough Olive Oil to cover all Kale
- Add Salt (coarse preferably) to taste (I also had some pepper)
- Bake at 250 degrees: 20 minutes for bigger pieces, 15 minutes for smaller pieces
- Kale should be dark green, brown edges, and crispy
Washed
"Piece" size
Ready for the oven

Trust me...it is really good!

#41 Part 2 and #74

A little update on my Day Zero Project.

#41 is Learn to cook 10 new recipes...I have already done one.

This recipe I got from Gina over at Skinny Taste
I forgot to take pictures this time but I have to say it was pretty good.

My Notes
I was generous with the salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.  Without it, it was a bit bland but that definitely pepped it up!  I would definitely recommend this for someone and make it again.  I am a beginner with garlic too, so I had to google how to smash and even peel it!  And my hands have smelled like garlic for 3 days now! (and yes I have showered!)

#74 was to find a new hobby.  I feel like I cheated a bit here because I am choosing blogging.  I didn't make that goal with it in mind but the more I think about it...it makes sense.  So there ya go!

#41 Part 1

#41 of my Day Zero Project is to try 10 new recipes.  So this is my first one (I actually did another one but it was a total FAIL).  It is from Mr. Food (he is a big deal here...my husband worked at the TV station and had his picture taken with him...and my Grandma K makes at least one of his recipes a week).  It is called Summer Garden Salad and here is the recipe.

First Step

Second Step

Finished Product!

My notes

I used lemon juice from the bottle instead of fresh squeezed (I'm lazy) and I don't know if my olive oil was extra virgin olive oil but I used it anyways and still tasted great!

I kept it in the fridge overnight and I thought it tasted better the next day because it had soaked in the juices.

Obviously if you don't like veggies then you won't like this! :)
