Where I Share Some Obscure Songs That Bring Back Memories

Hello ya'll.   Today is a subject I love...music.   I'm not a singer (except for those 5 years in choir) and I don't play any instruments but music is still important to me.

So, 5 songs that speak to you or bring back memories.  I of course just didn't choose 5 and I have some obscure songs for you to enjoy :)

This song reminds me of my childhood.   My parents had what we call now "oldies" cassette tapes and whenever I heard this song I would run and hide because I was embarrassed.   Mostly because the lyrics go "Come on down Miranda...".  and in my weird child brain this embarrassed me.  Now I love it because their aren't many songs with my name in it.

Around the time I was 13 and 14 I was friends with a girl who my parents didn't really think was a good influence.  She moved back to her hometown and I would visit her...however this town, kind of dangerous.  That was the first time I drank alcohol (shhh don't tell my parents) and I was subjected to a lot of things a girl my age should never have to.  However I do have good memories and my friend and I would dance around the living room singing this "new" song.

Ok this literally came out around the time I was graduating.   And it was a big hit...and even though it is super cheesy it does make a little sad.

So over the years Guss & I had some "us" songs.   Some embarrassing ones (cough - Mandy Moore I wanna be with you - cough)   But this was our wedding song.   Kind of a weird song for your first dance but I have always loved it and spoke to me.

Another random song...if you listen to techno then you might have heard of this song.   When I studied abroad in Germany, in the clubs they would play American music and then a ton of techno.   This one became big in our small group of students and we would "Put our hands up"  all over Europe...below is us in Prague. (surprisingly none of us are from Detroit)

I've shared this song a bunch but when I think about having a son, this definitely speaks to me.

And finally this is a general song for "carrying on".   I love Fun. and their lyrics and I am super excited to see them in concert in June!!!

It's Always An Awkward Thursday

Like I have said before, when I participate in Awkward and Awesome Thursday I always have an abundance of Awkward.  But in some ways I look at some Awkward things as pretty awesome too.

***Like this song we used to sing when I was studying abroad in Germany.

"Frühlings Pause in meiner Hose, Aprikose Soße ist auch da."

Translation:  Spring Break in my pants, apricot sauce is also there.

Doesn't flow too well in English but it is very fun to sing.  I promise.

I bring this up now because one my friends from Germany brought it to our attention again and it has been stuck in my head ever since.

Just in case you needed a visual.

***Hearing this on the news made me laugh so hard.

A deer being chased by a dog ran into a window at the first college I attended,  University of Wisconsin Stout.  It ran around the building then eventually went out some automatic doors.  The funniest thing about it though?  A guy being interviewed said this...with a straight face.

Keep your dogs on a leash so they don't chase deer into buildings.

Yes.
I will keep that in mind.
I mean if it weren't for deer chasing I wouldn't even have a leash for my dog.

Read more about it here.  And photo of damage below.

Lately I have been hearing/seeing crazy things involving animals. This was a recent status of mine.

That same night on my way home I see a deer walking on the sidewalk in a residential area.  Like a human.  I thought I was hallucinating!

Finally, I have a little contest for you.  I want to see if you can guess what the sound in the video is.
I call it a contest but I can almost guarantee you, you won't figure it out.  But when I reveal tomorrow what it is and you go back and listen to it again, you WILL laugh like crazy.  You can't not (hello double negative.)  Just ask Katie...but don't spoil it for anyone else lady!

So there it is...another awkward Thursday.  I beg of you to guess what the video is of, then I will also say what other people guessed.  FYI ... it's nothing gross (aka sexual).

Happy Thursday Lovies!!!.

Where would I love to live?

Today I am joining Cole for "3 on Thursday".  This week's question is

Sometimes it's fun to envision packing up and moving to a new city/state.  Where are three places that you'd consider living?

1) Berlin, Germany:
I love this city!  There is so much to see and do and everyone I encountered was super friendly.  It wasn't difficult to navigate with it's train system, and is a quick hour ride to the town I studied abroad in.

Me in Berlin.
Wittenberg, Germany
This is the town I studied abroad in.  I love it here but living in Berlin would still give me easy access!

2) Boston:
Probably one of favorite cities in America.  I would love to live near the Ocean but not the Florida/California beaches.  I like being able to see the Ocean in all seasons.  The Pros of Boston?  Fresh Seafood, Chowder, and Dunkin' Donuts everywhere!  The Cons?  The Red Soxs.

Guss & I in Boston.

3) Seattle:
I have never actually been to Seattle, but I want to go so bad!  It just looks like a place I wouldn't mind living.  First of all...Starbucks!!!  And just all the people and food!  Plus I don't mind rainy weather!

How about you?  Where would you want to live?  Somewhere you've never been?  Another country?  Go check out Cole's blog and see where other people would want to live or link-up yourself!
