Friday Funnies

It's been a crazy week around here and I'm sad that Guss's vacation is almost over. :(  So to cheer me up and hopefully make you laugh, here are some cards from one of my favorite websites.

Have a great weekend!  I will be out celebrating my birthday...so much so that hopefully I won't remember my age.  Just Kidding. Not.

I'm pretty sure...It's OK!

Happy Thursday!!!
Linking up with Amber & Neely for their 1 year anniversary of "It's Ok"!!!

Its Ok Thursdays

it's ok...

...that i think my child is the most photogenic person in the world - but i am allowed to think that since it is my child  (i will have proof soon when I show you his 2 year pictures)

...that i get excited for the gifts mason gets for the reading program at the library

...that i find nothing wrong with just turning 28 but still hate telling people my age

...that i went to a Mexican restaurant on my birthday just because i got a free meal (up to 10 dollars) and a free drink! Even though they had to sing to me and I had to put on a ridiculous hat.

...that someone taught my son how to booty dance.  ok...actually it is not.  my husband is in big trouble now.

...that we traveled an hour just to get food.  And then proceed to eat it and drive an hour home.

...that i apparently talk about food a lot and this whole week has been based around it.

...that I am super excited to celebrate my birthday this week with some family and friends (including Kasey!)

------------

Thank you all for the birthday wishes yesterday!  You are all so sweet!

6 Years ! ! !

Happy Sunday everyone!
Today the husband I are celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary!  (total of 12 years together!)

To celebrate this day we are just hanging out, eating Chinese, and having a few drinks.

Below I am posting a letter I wrote to Guss when I first started this blog as part of my 101 in 1001.

Dear Gussy/Wally:
We have been together for a total of 11 12 years...and they haven't always been easy.  The day I thought you were going to propose I told you 'don't do it'.  But you did it anyways...and I found myself saying yes.  Well that was one of the best decisions ever.  We still have our problems but I think we still have a healthy and happy relationship.  Don't get me wrong...you drive my crazy!  But only you can get away with it.  You have given me Mason...the best gift ever.  I hope as we spend the rest of our lives together we continue to be us.  The couple who bickers every day...but hardly ever fights.  Where I can tell you how I feel and not keep it bottled inside.  I just hope we will always be happy and stay together...no matter what we have to face...because you are the one for me.  The only one.
Love,
Miranda

Awkward & Awesome Thursday

I always seem to have a lot of Awkward things and not as many Awesome.  Wonder what that says about me?  But let's get to it.

Awkward:

I actually saw this on Jay Leno the other night!  But I took this with my own phone.  *Exercise Pen - because big dogs could get a lot of exercise in there*
All Lee Or Urban Pipeline Jeans For Guys & Men
Can you tell me the difference between the two?
Sorry I couldn't get the picture to be straight.  Come on, Bed Selling Business, a couple with one small blanket, with no sheets, spooning?  You surely don't know your target audience.
I don't watch Jersey Shore but I saw this on Saturday Night Live and I just laughed like crazy.
Ok, this is an ad in a magazine.  I have seen it so many times and whenever I do, the girl on the right (imagine her without braids) looks exactly like a High-School-Musical-Age Zac Efron.  Please tell me you see it too!
It's really awkward when you go to put your EOS lip balm on and there are teethmarks.  Thanks to your 2 year old son.  Must have tasted delicious.

Awesome:

Me drinking wine out of a coffee mug.  What?  It's awesome to me.  Kind of.

Wordless Wednesday

Isn't it weird how people say wordless and it almost never is :)
Here is Mason and his cousin Juliana sharing his car.
When I posted this on Facebook, someone commented on the second photo that Mason was telling Juliana,
"You expect
 me to ask for directions????"

Stuff I Got For Free

Pretty exciting title right?  Well it's alllll true.  More on that later.

The next two weeks are quite busy here in Miranda-land.  On Thursday I am heading to Wisconsin Dells where my parents have a time share.  The whole family will be there...I pray we don't kill each other.  Then Sunday is Guss & I's 6 year wedding anniversary (The 31st we have been together 12 years).
Next week Guss has vacation and we plan on doing a lot of eating (because that is what you do on vacation), then my actual birthday is July 25th.  That Saturday we are going to the small town my husband (and Kasey) are from to celebrate my b-day!!!  Anyways, I will still be posting next week but just thought I would share the busy-ness that is my next few weeks.  July is always busy around here.

So on to the title.  More than a month ago I was reading Bethany's blog Rinse. Repeat.  and  if you read  her blog you know she recently moved to Kuwait with her husband.  Well before she moved she was getting rid of everything in her apartment.  For free!!!  She has ton of cute stuff and almost all of it was up for grabs.  Well I am very fortunate to live in the same town as her so I took advantage.  By the time I got there a lot was gone (rugs, couches, end tables) but I know Guss would have killed me if I brought any of that home anyways.  But I happened to find a lot of great cute stuff.  Free.  Free.  Did I mention free?  Thank you Bethany for being so generous with your things.  Check out her post announcing it here.

1.  I got two of these baskets which I plan to spray paint
2. Colorful note cards (I'm obsessed with paper), bracelets, decorative plate
3. Framed pictures.  And the background on this picture and #2 are actually cloth napkins.
4. Tank Top
5. J. Crew Sweater!!!
6. Burlapp Anthropologie dress!!!

(Not Pictured:  Mason Jar drinking glasses.  Yeah seemed a little weird at first but if you wash them what's the deal?  It's the same thing at restaurants.)

So there it is!  Hope your day is grrreeeaattttt! *Tony the Tiger style*

Law & Order Game and Some Other Good Stuff!

Hello all!!! Good news!!! I fixed my buttons!  So if you want to swap with me let me know!  If not, that's ok...but you should check out the one's I do have!

So this what I have been up to:
My husband and I have always loved Law & Order: SVU and now that it is on Netflix we have started from Season 1 Episode 1.  And we have a game.  If you watch, you know that Stabler & Benson are the main characters.  Stabler gets in trouble a lot, and in trying to keep the show interesting the characters occasionally get hurt or shot.  So we are tallying up all the times they were hurt or got in trouble up until the final episode on Netflix.  Nerds.

Yesterday my husband granted me a few hours of freedom.  (Does that sound bad?) I went to Starbucks and got caught up on some blog stuff.  Plus, I had this awesome drink!  The Berry Refresher.  It's really good!  I would totally recommend it.

And most importantly, the awesome Kodie gave me a blog award!  Thanks girl!  She's from Wisconsin like me and and a huge Packer fan like me.  Lucky girl gets to live next to Lambeau Field soon!

Here are the rules:
*Include the award's logo in a post or on your blog
*Share the love and link the person who awarded you
*Tell us 7 facts about yourself
*Nominate 7 other fabulous bloggers
*Link your nominees to your post and leave them a comment on their blog, letting them know they've won!

7 Facts About Me

1. I don't like even numbers except the numbers 4 & 12 & 80 (strictly sports numbers).

2.  I changed my major 7 times in College.  (I am very indecisive)

3. I went to a fair that cost $3 to get in and then we got a free concert.  The concert?  N*SYNC when they were first starting out.  They were pretty good.

4. One of my family members has at least 1 birthday in 10 out of the 12 months.  We need August & October! :)

5. My middle name Lynn is also my dad's middle name.

6. My dream was to grow up and be a veterinarian.

7. As most of you know I studied German but when I was a Freshman in college the school only had Spanish.  I took it and got a B+ but I always got the numbers mixed up and would say Ja instead of Si.

Now for the 7 ladies I nominate for this award:

Katie at Katers Potaters

Stormy at Life's A Dance

Family

So like every day family (at least every family that tells the truth)  we have problems.  The past few years have been a bit rocky for mine.  However, recently we have been closer and I couldn't be happier.

These past few weeks when my family has been together we finally got the coveted photo for my mom.  A photo of all her grandchildren.

From Left:  Juliana (16 months), Molly (12), Mason (2), Abby (11), Madeleine (1 month), John (10), Ryan (16 months), Bill (10)

Another thing about my family that has made me feel better is my nieces.  They made me an aunt for the very first time and will always have a special place in my heart.  My now husband met my family for the first time when my niece Molly turned 1.  In 3 days she will be 13.  Scary.  And it makes me feel very old.  :)  Well one night we were hanging out and she posted this on facebook.  Something so simple that just made my week.  Cheesy, right?

Well today (for me) is about family.  I'm thinking about what we have and not what we have gone through. Trying not to feed into the drama (which is VERY hard having 2 sisters.)

Have a great day lovies!

Dear ... Wednesday.

I know around blog-land people do letters on Fridays, however I could not wait until then.  So behold...my Wednesday Letters.  *warning:  graphic language ahead*

Dear Anonymous:  I appreciate the concern that I am not able to "get it up", but I really don't need Viagra or Cialis.  Nor do i wish to sit in a bathtub opposite my partner on a mountainside.

I don't know where you came from all of a sudden but I'm OK.  Maybe start spamming men over the age of 50 instead of a woman under 30.

Dear Mike: (my cousin's husband)  thanks for the priceless quotes you brought this weekend...even though they were pretty inappropriate. *note: he was pretty much 11 millions sheets to the wind*

"It's a glove not a doctor"
(talking about hand gloves that were floating around at the bar)
"Remember the mark of the devil and then remember you have fingers"
(trying to remember his wedding anniversary - 10 days after 06/06/06)
"you know who f***s good?  people who have killed their sisters"
(um yeah...I have no words)
"are goats female sheep?"
(heard during a conversation between Mike and my husband - very intelligent)

Dear Ryan Braun:  Don't you worry your pretty and talented little head about those boos at the All Star game.  You kicked ass.

Dear Prince Fielder:  (winner of the Home Run Derby)  How many times do I have to beg for you to come back to the Brewers.  I may have no money but still...

Dear Chris H: I know this is your primary job on "The Bachelor/Bachelorette"  but come on...really?

Dear Arie:  (from "The Bachelorette")  you aren't really that special.

Dear Miranda:  congrats!  you won Mother of the Year award for finally getting your son's 2 year pictures taken...3 months late.

Dear Grandpa C:  Hope you have an awesome birthday in heaven.  I miss you every day!
Sorry for the phone pic.  Grandpa Gilbert Clinton C.

Well there you go.  Love all you lovies, and if you're from Wisconsin please let me know!  My cousin Katie is trying to set up a Wisconsin Bloggers meet up!

Oh what a (past) week!

Oh the past week/weekend.  It was eventful let me tell ya.  Fires, families, babies, being yelled at by my Grandma (yes, my grandma!), basketball games, and some random drama.

Below:
* My sweet little man in his car seat
* My nieces playing basketball (Molly (l), Abby (r)).  They are both pretty awesome and I easily got into the game...I'm gonna be one of those parents at my kids' games.
* Mason DOES NOT like to swing.  However the slides?  Piece of cake.
* Me & my super cute baby niece Madeleine Jean.  (please excuse my lack of makeup and tired face)
* Sleeping baby
* Baby feet!
* My niece Abby stayed the night one night.  Here she is reading to Mason...I should say that Mason is absolutely obsessed with her.  (Actually the past weekend he went to my parents with my sister and her family and when he came back...he was not so happy.  He wasn't happy to see us at all and wanted to go with them!  Yes I may have cried, lol.)
* Our first fire of the summer!  I hope to have many many more!
And like I said, some random drama.  If you want a lowdown on it click here.  My quick recap?  (*note:  I really try not to get into drama) After going out to the a local bar because Mason was at his grandparents, I got a text from my cousin.  Her best friend since High School was mad at her for not showing up to her surprise birthday party.  But my cousin had to work.  However her BF didn't care.  So they fought and finally her friend called her a really nasty name...i won't repeat it but it started with a 'c'.  At that point I was irate so I texted this girl (acquaintance to me) and told her not to treat my family that way.  Words were exchanged, (including swear words...sorry mom) and eventually (she told my cousin this) she paid to have my number blocked.  Well I told her I was done texting her, so she wasted her money.   Anyways the point of the story (since I know this girl had a blog - she has now blocked it - and probably reads mine) is don't mess with my family...and I have no regrets.  That is all.  :)

Have a great day lovies!

The Fourth! (And attention fellow button swappers)

Ok Hi! So, remember when I said you would hear about my past week/end 'tomorrow'?  'tomorrow' as in yesterday?  Oops.  Anyways I had that post planned and then I realized it was the 4th of July.  And who wants to hear about my weekend on a Holiday?  Soooo...that will come Thursday.  When better to talk about your past weekend then on a Thursday when it's almost a new weekend!

First:  HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
July is very special for me:  it's the month of mine, my mom's, and niece's birthdays (sorry grammar police...I'm sure that was wrong), and the month of my sister's and my (and of course my husband's) wedding anniversary.  More to come on that.
Second: So  yeah, after a few months of having "button swaps" on my sidebar, I realized when I got my new blog design they don't link to each of the swappers pages.  They are pretty much pictures. So I tried to contact my designer and she had pretty much disappeared.  Her email doesn't exist anymore, can't find her twitter, her blog hasn't been updated since April and she has no contact info on there.  So I have no idea how to fix it.  Trust me I've tried.  So I guess I'm going to keep trying to find her for a bit and then move on I guess.  Ugh.  But if anyone is interested in swapping when I finally can (you are def #1 Alana!) let me know!

Third:  I had a spelling mistake in my post I wrote last Tuesday.  I was in fact "changing my son" not "chaining" him.  So if anyone was worried about be locking him in some dark dungeon...you are mistaken.  Glad we have that cleared up!

P.S.  Holy crap they have made it super hard to delete friends on Facebook.  But I'm pushing through!  :)

Simplifying

So I when I first started this "thing" I am going to talk about, I called it "purging".  Then I realized it was a gross word that made me think about some bad things.  So I went with - simplifying.

So lately I have felt so overwhelmed.  Overwhelmed about all the books and magazines I wanted to read.  The shows I wanted to watch, the house I wanted to clean. Just the constant to-do lists that had things never crossed off.  I feel that attributed to my depression.  Where there is so much to do but no desire to do it.  Or no energy.

But that changes now.

It started with looking in my bathroom.  The closet was full of stuff I never used, and the medicine cabinet as well.  I started thinking...this is ridiculous...there is way too much stuff I have.  And I don't even need it.  So the list of simplifying began.  This is what I am going through to simplifying my life.

- make up
- bathroom closet (shampoos, body washes, etc)
- clothes
- purses
- dishes (we have so many extra cups and mugs we have acquired over the years)
- facebook friends (do i really care what my 8th grade friend whom I never talk to has to say?)
- people i follow on twitter  (people i followed just to win a giveaway...really?!)
- blogs i follow (i have so many every-day reads I follow, but then I have blogs I have followed just because they have followed me...I'm sorry...I need to give you up)
- even Mason's toys makes the cut.  he doesn't play with all of them and they just create clutter in my house.

I will be giving stuff I don't need to Savor's (like a goodwill here in my area), Once upon a Child (a second hand shop for kids), or selling it.  I just want to get rid of the stuff I don't need and focus on the life I am living.

Have you ever decided to throw stuff out to simplify your life?  Or do you need to?

P.S. Tomorrow, you will hear about my past week and weekend.  It was quite eventful!
